{FEARS Exclusive} - Adam (WHANNELL) wakes to find himself chained to a pipe inside a decrepit bathroom. Chained to the opposite side of the room is the bewildered Dr. Lawrence Gordon (ELWES). Between them is a dead man lying in a pool of blood and holding a .38 in his hand. Neither of them knows why he has been abducted, but instructions leinstructions left on a microcassette order Dr. Gordon to kill Adam within eight hours. If ft on a microcassette order Dr. Gordon to kill Adam within eight hours. If he fails to kill him then both men will die, plus Dr. Gordonís wife, Alison (POTTER), and his daughter. Recalling a recent murder investigation, Gordon realizes he and Adam are the next victims of a psychopathic genius known as ìJigsaw.î With only a few hours left to spare, they must unravel this sophisticated puzzle of that binds their fates. The killer has provided them with only a few clues and two handsaws.

Already a smash hit in the U.K., SHAUN OF THE DEAD, a ìrom zom comî (romantic zombie comedy), follows the bloody funny adventures of underachiever Shaun (Simon Pegg) and his best mate Ed (Nick Frost) as they cope with a zombie invasion of North London and attempt to rescue Shaunís girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield) and his Mum, Barbara (Penelope Wilton). SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW is an eclectic mix of film noir, pulp fiction, comic books, and classic animation that have been feed into the neurons of first time director/writer Kerry Conran and shaped cinematically harmonized by the latest digital technology. This is the inexhaustible imagination of childhood play visualized for an audience. Itís a love letter to the child in all of use who once dreamed we could fight monsters, fly, and that the world was full of wonders to be discovered. Kerry Conran grew up in Flint, MI, but left home to study film at the California Institute of the Arts. In 1994, Kerry setup a blue screen in his apartment and spent the next four years creating a six minute film titled ìThe World of Tomorrow.î In November of 1999 he showed the short film to an old college friend who showed it to Marsha Oglesby, Jon Avnetís producing partner. Little did Kerry know realize that those six minutes were just the beginning of a nine year odyssey and some 2000 special effects shots. No one knew because no one has ever made a film like this before!

SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW is a state-of-the-art special effects movie that makes cinematic history as it strives to create a world never seen before. With more than 2000 effects shots, this feature uses live action shot against a blue screen and fills all the other details in digitally. More than six years, producer Jon Avnet found the founding that allowed first-time director Kerry Conran to take a six minute animated short and grow it into an alternated universe of breathtakingly lush, long-lost sci-fi worlds where pulp fiction fantasies come to life.
Producer Jon Avnet has directed and produced more than 50 motion pictures and television movies, in addition to serving as the chairman of the board of directors of the American Film Institute and chairman of the Center for Advanced Film Studies Advisory Board at the American Film Institute. Already in pre-production on several other projects, Avnet was eager to talk at length about this six minute film he saw that he would help bring into being and launch the create of a visionary filmmaker.
