Synopsis: Dr. Alec Holland has his life back… but the Green (the spirit of the natural world ) has plans for it. A monstrous evil is rising in the desert, and it’ll take a monster of another kind to defend life as we know it!

Review: SWAMP THING #1 (Raise Dem Bones) sets the stage for a new beginning for the Swamp Thing comic franchise. The debut issue is compelling but at times is slightly confusing. The comic opens as a series of strange phenomena strike the DCU, seeing birds tumbling from the sky and the oceans filling with the carcasses of dead fish. Superman seeks out the aid of Alec Holland, who is in hiding, haunted by the memories of a monster he was left with following his. He is able to avoid the unwelcome attention of the superbeings and the "Green" is not about to let Holland go.

As the first issue in the new series it tries to co-mingle an established continuity of the character of Alec Holland aka Swamp Thing, which might leave new readers feeling a bit in the dark when it comes to this storyline. Yanick Paquette's psychedelic art and multi-page splash pages are magnificent.

This issue ends with an interesting cliffhanger and introduces a new villain. Its sure to leave readers asking questions and hopefully wanting more. SWAMP THING #1 is not a stellar re-launch but it wasn’t that horrible either. The art and We will have to see where this series is going before full critique of it can be made.
