Synopsis: Frankenstein is part of a network of strange beings who work for an even stranger government organization: The Super Human Advanced Defense Executive! But can he protect the world from threats even more horrifying than himself? And since he’s vilified for who and what he is, will he even want to take on this mission?

Review: At first glance, this title looks kind of silly. It immediately calls to mind Marvel’s organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. However, a deeper look into the pages of FRANKENSTEIN AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E #1 will reveal an intriguing take on the classic monster movies and creature features of the past. The idea of a super hero team composed of a vampire, a werewolf, a mummy and a sea creature lead by Frankenstein (Frankenstein’s monster, but whose counting?) actually works pretty well when fleshed out in this title.

This first issue provides a great set up to what looks to be a promising series. It also looks like the villains in this book might come from the same place as the villains in at least two of the other The New 52 books (SWAMP THING 1 and ANIMAL MAN 1). FRANKENSTEIN AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E is a title worth keeping an eye on future issues to say the least.
