OZONE
Tempe Video
review by Terry
Wickham
A
new drug called Ozone causes people to turn into zombies and others
into a pool of slime. What I liked about this film was the two police
office characters Eddie Boon and Mike Weitz. I thought both characters
were quite likable and the same can be said of the actors, James
Black and Tom Hoover, who portrayed each character. James Black
plays the lead character Eddie Boone and is one of the best actors
I've seen in a J.R. Bookwalter film. He's a bit understated, which
is unlike many of the actors who go over the top in this film and
Bookwalter's other productions. Mr. Black seems a bit more comfortable
in front of the camera. The nemesis behind the Ozone drug is a cliched
overweight monster-beast, who we've seen in countless other films.
The problem with having an antagonist like this, is that it's all
talk and no action. We never come to fear this character. The blob
like villain can barely move in it's chair, so it's basically an
incapacitated glob of latex. The music by Jens C. Moller worked
rather nicely. But I've got to tell you, besides Romero's trilogy
& a few other exceptions (LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE, CHILDREN
SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS) zombies just don't do it for me.
I don't find them interesting or scary. If you're looking for a
micro budget horror film, this one will give you two strong characters,
which is more than most of these films can provide.
