I wanted
to see this movie for a long time and had high hopes for THAT LITTLE MONSTER.
Unfortunately the scatterbrain direction from Paul Bunnell sabotaged the
experience. Bunnell is never able to push the story along and gets
caught in scenes that never seem to end.
It
is always nice to see Forrest J. Ackerman and my personal friend Reggie
Bannister. I remember asking Reggie about the movie at the 1995 Chiller
Convention and he spoke fondly about the movie.
This
1994 black and white film has finally found it's way onto DVD courtesy
of the good folks at Elite Entertainment. I can't criticize them
for the way they present this film on DVD. Elite has put together
a nice supplement section that includes audio commentary by writer/director
Paul Bunnell and editor/producer Carl Mastromarino. There's also
interview footage of Paul Bunnell that you have to see to believe.
I will say that he is quite a character.
The
real treat of the film is the 19 minute short film 'The Visitant" which
was made in 1981 and showed promise for the filmmaker.
It's
great that this film is now available for the DVD world. It's just
something that not everyone will appreciate.
