DARK ROMANCES
Salt City Home
Video

Utter
nonsense. One of the most poorly conceived films Iíve ever seen.
Because most of the video is a period piece, the director tries
his best to not to get anything modern day in the camera frame.
He does this by putting the camera right up on the actorís faces
and lighting only them so that we can't really see any kind of background.
This restrictive visual style becomes hard to watch, as you just
see cuts of faces. The whole thing is a hodgepodge of cheesy video
effects, soft focus, poor lighting, over use of lighting gels, abuse
of close-ups and too many flash frames. This had to be the hardest
viewing experience Iíve had to endure since becoming a writer for
FEARS magazine. Because of this, the movie is an absolute chore
to watch, let alone follow itís jumbled mess of a story. Not to
mention the agonizing 140 minute running time. Iíll be honest, I
had to spread watching it out over a few weeks, because I could
only take it in small doses. I wonít even talk about the story other
than to say an evil woman named Diana (Brinke Stevens) tries to
wreck havoc on anyone she can.
