Cherry
Falls
Directed by Geoffrey Wright
USA Films
reviews
by Terry Wickham
In a
small town, Cherry Falls, Virginia, high school students are being
murdered because they are virgins. That's right, you read that right.
Thirty years before the film starts, four guys rape a young woman
and now someone is seeking revenge.
The
cast is pretty strong with Brittany (Clueless) Murphy, Michael (The
Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss) Biehn and Jay Mohr (Picture Perfect,
Go, Mafia).
Australian
director Geoffrey Wright (Romper Stomper) is behind this slasher
film. He does a fair job of keeping things moving forward and entertaining
us.
This
is really nothing we haven's seen before but it's done with enough
conviction that you will gladly follow along. I've actually been
impressed with the films USA films have put out so far.
Brittany
Murphy has beautiful brown eyes that cinematographer Anthony B.
Richmond captures with plenty of moving close-ups. Biehn has done
better in other roles, but is still believable as a small town Sheriff.
Jay Mohr does a commendable job alternating between the two sides
of his character.
I
liked the picturesque small Virginia town. The script has awkward
moments but it's a nicely written by Ken Selden. He tries to throw
you off with different characters that could potentially be the
killer.
If
USA Films continues on the path they've been on so far, things look
good for our viewing pleasure.
