THE
DEAD NEXT DOOR
Tempe Video
review by Terry
Wickham
The
world is being overrun with zombies. A swat team goes into a large
house to wipe out all the zombies in it. A scientist is desperately
trying to find a serum to change zombies back into human beings.
If you think you've seen this before, you have. If you take all
three of George Romero's DEAD films and throw in a pinch of THE
EVIL DEAD, then you have the ingredients that make up J.R. Bookwalter's
inauspicious debut. Though lacking originality, the film does carry
quite a bit of enthusiasm for gore. The make-up effects are passable
for the most part and we get to see quite of few of them. The film
is also pretty resourceful; there is overhead shots filmed from
an airplane, a scene filmed in front of the White House and a few
scenes involving lots of extras roaming around as zombies. Not a
scary or suspenseful film, but this is a blood drenched treat for
fans of George Romero.
